Guday all.
I thought its about time for my introduction .
Jezz Smith here ,from Pukekohe ,New Zealand -----you`ll hafto Google it if you don't know were we are .I`ll give you a clue,Look to the east of Australia .
I wasn't born here ,I emigrated from the UK when Margret Thatcher was prime minister ..As you can tell ,im a liberal .
I escaped to a country that gave women the vote first and has no interest what so ever in blowing the rest of the world up or killing wales for scientific experiments .
Jousting started for me back in 2005 after waking up one morning, thinking ,i really need to do something interesting with my horse riding .I had a good young horse with lots of spirit and the thought of Training to jump her did pass my mind .But then i remembered my younger years jumping horses and decided "NOT"
"Jousting "Theres a safer sport !!!!
Since starting this lark ,i`v traveled to the USA ,Belgium,Australia , ,Poland ,France ,Then im off to another couple of European countries to joust this year before i get to come back to California in October .
When i first started jousting the dream of being able to afford a Armour harness were limited so i did the thing most NZers do .I made one myself .
It wasnt the best, but it got me started .Since then my knowledge and armoring skills have improved and i have developed it into a side line hobby.
My main line of work is stonemasonry .Having apprenticed in St Andrews in Scotland ,were i lived through my teenage years into my 20s .
The last job i had in the UK was at York Minster as a banker mason for 6 years .
I try to specialize in historical stonework when i can but NZ was only settled by Europeans back in the 1850s so the work here is a lot younger than what i would prepare. But hey ! we have a good climate for out door pursuits .and i dont freeze my ass of in the winter .So it has its up side .
My musical preference is Rock music but after listening to my sons band playing in my garage ,,some how softer easier listening music has its attractions Laughing
My main ambition in life is to find some rich eccentric that would like to build his own castle ,employ me as a master mason and pass on my knowledge to others that could use it to preserve a small part of our past history .
Im already living one of my dreams "JOUSTING " in a full suit of Armour,on a real horse ..How cool is that Very Happy
